What Color Settings to Use: RBG or CYMK?

by D. Sproul | July 6th, 2009

Many people are confused by the color space settings in graphic design programs. The final output usually determines the correct setting.

So when should you set up your file in CYMK? Well those four initials stand for cyan, yellow, magenta, and black. This is best used for four color printing by professional printers using ink or digital output. Remember to also change any linked files like photos to CYMK, as well. (Scanned files start as RGB.)

RBG is best for web use and printing at home.

Hopefully that will help clarify which color space to use and when.
